| Drupal modules - temporary (tmp) directory creation error |
"Unable to create directory 'temporary://update-extraction ..."Public servers, paid or free, are useful to easily test applications like Drupal but unexpected problems, like the one mentioned above, can happen when installing Drupal modules, because of directory creation permissions. Directory permissions can be a problem in several circumstances and specially on public web sites where you may not have a convenient full acces to change server parameters. 1) To workaround: Using ftp. Is not as practical as using the Drupal interface but you can always install a module directly on the server using ftp to drop the module to: /public_html/tirestecnica/sites/all/modules and then activate it on Drupal administration. 2) To solve the problem: change the temporary (tmp) location On Drupal interface go to Home >> Administration >> Configuration >> File system and there instead of "/tmp" use "./tmp" That is it! Now drupal will install modules from the interface. vcard |

| EDUCATORS IN VR 2020 INTERNATIONAL SUMMIT: A VIRTUAL PHOENIX FROM THE FIRE |
Have you ever been involved in a project that became so intense that you begin to realize that the project is either going to go spectacularly well or utterly flop? Right before the Educators in VR 2020 International Summit, we had that feeling. We write that not to cast doubt on this organization. Conversely, we want to tell you the story of how Educators In VR took a huge risk and got a virtual conference right…spectacularly right. Two research colleagues from the Immersive Learning Research Network attended and presented at this first-of-a-new-kind of conference. The origin story from the Educators in VR founders will move into lore but the earliest versions include phrases like “we can do this because it is all virtual” and“this will be a free conference” and “we will aim for 40 presenters.” Eventually, this conference covered 6 days (February 17–22, 2020), 5 platforms (AltspaceVR, Engage, Somnium Space, rumii, and Mozilla Hubs), 170+ presenters, 150+ sessions, and 75+ volunteers. Events ran around the clock so there was truly a global audience. There were an average of 100 attendees per event and because it was online, it saved 1,400,800 lbs of carbon dioxide. |

The module SMTP Authentication Support displayed the message “Unable to send e-mail. Contact the site administrator if the problem persists”. It has been solved by uninstalling the module, flushing the cache and reinstalling. We apologize for the inconvenience. |

| eTwinning PDW Coding and Robotics: The Future is Now! |
Decorreu em Braga de 5 a 7 de maio o professional development workshop Coding and Robotics, da rede eTwinning. Organizado em parceria entre os serviços de apoio eTwinning de Portugal, Estónia e Noruega, levou cento e vinte professores de vinte países europeus para um evento repleto de workshops sobre apps de introdução à programação e robótica educativa. Estivemos lá, a responder ao desafio de dinamizar dois workshops sobre modelação e impressão 3D. Respondemos a duas sessões com cerca de trinta participantes cada, a mostrar o que se pode fazer na escola com impressoras 3D e a fazer uma breve introdução ao Tinkercad. | Event: A Viagem do Artenauta |
The Local Learning Center (CLA) of the Open University (UAb) in Ponte de Lima organizes the educational, cultural and artistic project, "A Viagem do Artenauta" - Storytellers and creativity. Supported by various entities in the district of Viana do Castelo, the project will take place between 17 and 29 October 2011 in several locations in the town of Ponte de Lima, and involves a series of initiatives directed to the school community and the public general: exhibitions, workshops, theater, dance, music, movies, seminar on Education, Arts and Culture, Literature, Cinema and Storytellers. Babelx3d is present in the public exhibition room, open daily to local visitors: "BABELX3D e os ArteNautas Virtuais" (Babelx3d and the Virtual Artenauts). Check the program here. |
