Batch rename with variables that reference (current game object name, its mesh name, tag, child count, and the current index/order).

Variables you can use when naming:

$original: The GameObject current name.

$mesh: The name of the GameObject (if it has a mesh, otherwise you can set a fallback text)

$index: The current order/index of the GameObject in the selection.

$children: The total count of children under this object.

$tag: The assigned tag to the current object.

OB - Object Rename helps you group or batch rename multiple objects with very straightforward features.

You can simply use $original to use the current name and then $index to use the order of the object and add it to the name.

Variables you can use when naming:

$original: The GameObject's current name.

$mesh: The name of the GameObject (if it has a mesh, otherwise you can set a fallback text)

$index: The current order/index of the GameObject in the selection.

$children: The total count of children under this object.

$tag: The assigned tag to the current object.


Some of the use cases

Having a unique name for animations: Let's say you have a parent GameObject with 10s of objects under it (trees, rocks, etc.) and you decided to animate them. Having sibling GameObjects with the same name will cause a confusion with the animation since multiple objects share the exact same name. Simply, you can add the index counter to make it different.


Organizing the hierarchy: You can have the GameObjects' names clear and easy to understand, for instance, you can retrieve the mesh name and use it as the GameObject name easily.


Knowing the child count for parents: You can use the $children variable to count any children under the selected GameObjects. This will help you optimize and have a better view of your level (in terms of organizing).


Sometimes you just want to add a word after or before an object's name: Using the $original variable lets you keep the existing name, then you can add any words, or even variables, before or after it.

Provides keyboard/mouse driven tools to adjust GameObject location, scale, and rotation while the Unity Editor is in Play mode, with changes saved upon exiting. EG, instantly fix floating GameObjects.

Move objects in X, Y and Z. Rotate in X, Y, and Z. Scale in... Y or All dimensions.


All editing happens in play mode, no need to switch back to the editor tab. However, it does require the Unity editor be running, this is not meant for end users to edit levels in the final build, but for YOU to tweak your own levels rapidly and accurately.


While a demo scene and a simple character controller are provided, they are purely to demonstrate the system. The expectation is you will add the main MonoBehaviour script to your player's GameObject, and then enabling editing by adding just a couple more lines of code that pauses your Player Controller and game simulation while editing is happening.


Limitations:

  • GameObjects must already exist in the scene.
  • Only the transform of GameObjects is edited, you can't change script properties or textures, etc. This is for rapidly tweaking levels while you play, not a full-scale editor replacement.

Ever been playtesting your game from inside the Unity editor and noticed a GameObject out of place, say floating above the ground, or partially penetrating a wall? This tool makes that trivially easy to fix, and whatever changes you make with the tool are maintained after you exit play mode.

How to Use


First select a GameObject with a `Camera` component, then there are 2 options.


Option 1: Using the Toolbar Overlay (Recommended)


1. Open the **Scene View** window.

2. Click the CVS button on Unity Scene View's overlay toolbar to open the CVS overlay toolbar.

- *Or click the **Overlay menu** (the vertical dots) button in the top-left of the Scene View tab, and enable "Camera View Sync" to open the toolbar.*

3. In the opened toolbar, click the 🎥 **Start Piloting** button to begin syncing with the selected camera.

4. To stop piloting, click the 🛑 **Stop Piloting** button.

> The toolbar icon can also be pinned for quick access, and will reflect the current piloting state.


Option 2: Using the Menu


1. Go to `Tools → Camera View Sync → Start Piloting`.

2. Move around in the Scene view, and the selected camera will follow.

3. Use `Tools → Camera View Sync → Stop Piloting` to stop.
