VR & AR content - Vision Awards 2016 |
Despite an exaggerated VR & AR hype in news and social media, real world developers and creators opinions are far from that hype in news. The enthusiasm is moderate and some tech concerns remain (key devices are still not ready for consumers), usability is not great and ... main concerns are about content availability so the devices once acquired will not ... get dust in our desks!. This video gives a glance on the most recent VR & AR content. For a more detailed info look at the article: Enjoy! vcard |

VR Headset Buying Guide |
Virtual reality — technology that allows people to explore artificially constructed worlds as if they were real — has been the great, white whale of science fiction fans for as long as anyone could remember. The technology’s entertainment applications alone are limitless, providing users a way to immerse themselves in the latest video games without them ever having to step out the front door. Imagine stepping into a VR movie where you could walk around the set as the events unfold, for instance, or being able to take a tour of the Uffizi on your lunch break. Hell, envision walking the desolate, basalt-topped surface of Mars before bed. Read more: http://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/vr-headset-buying-guide |

VRML Editors |
VRML Pad is quite pricey. Are there any free/open source alternatives for VRML code editors? I'm trying out X3D-Edit, but its focused on X3D and not VRML. Would Notepad++ do the job of opening, viewing and editing VRML code (i want to try to edit avatars)? |

VRML Repository - Music |
Hi, came up with the idea of reporting/discussing interesting worlds/objects alphabetically by themes, one subject in each. it is important for students starting on this technology and for advanced users as well. Some title examples for message threads: - VRML Repository - Music This thread is about music worlds/objects (in general) so I gave this name to the message: VRML Repository - Music. Please add your own findings to this thread. If possible with a small description, a picture (~400x400) and the link to open the world in a multiuser server (see how here) so we, by chance, could meet online Enjoy, vcard |

VRML/X3D na Lisbon Mini Maker Faire |
![]()

VRML/X3D, the most widely supported 3D format |
"In 1995, VRML became the first web based 3D format. VRML was unique because it supported 3D geometry, animation, and scripting. In 1997, VRML was ISO certified and continued to attract a large following of artists and engineers. VRML is the most widely supported 3D format for tools and viewers" (Source: Web3D.org). A 3D technology oriented for creators and education. The early availability of specialized tools to create objects, scenes and avatars (most free and easy to work with) plus the fact that it is easy to make creations available trough the Web, even in the appealing form of multiuser worlds with avatars (using servers like blaxxun or ABNet), made this form of 3D an appealing tool and expression art form for creators, students and scientists. It is in fact a bit more of a creators "thing" than a mere 3D consumer product. VRML/X3D is a ISO Web standard and almost any 3D tool (from simple 3D editors like Vivaty Studio to Maya or Blender) can export objects, scenes and avatars to vrml/x3d formats. This easiness and wide support explains why, trough a search engine, we can discover examples of almost everything, from 3D games, 3D shopping, military uses, and technical to university and school projects. |
