Master Bookmarks by borgsystem

Bookmark your camera position, scene view, game object, prefab, asset folder and more. Jump/Select with a single press of a button. Track moving objects and drop your player on spot in game view.

Master Bookmarks can be used with either legacy or new input system in game view.

If using the new input system make sure the input system package is installed.


Camera Bookmarks FREE is the free basic version of Master Bookmarks if you want to try out a limited amount of the features.


IMPORTANT!

For users of Camera Bookmarks.

If you're already using Camera Bookmarks, you first have to remove it by deleting the Camera Bookmarks folder found in borgsys->Tools and after that import MasterBookmarks.


After importing Master Bookmarks you also have to replace the CameraPrototype scripts with the MasterBookmarksCamera script and reassign it to the CameraBookmarksManager.


Other than that your previous bookmarks should be good to go.


Demo scene

The demo scene is made for the built-in render pipeline.

Use material conversion wizards for URP or HDRP if you're not already using the prototyping pack (not on asset store but can be downloaded here: borgsystem.com/assetsforunity/).

The Prototyping folder can be deleted if you don't need the demo.


Speed up your workflow with Master Bookmarks when working on big scenes, open worlds or a lot of prefab folders in your project.

You can

  • set and save your favourite camera positions in the scene view,
  • select game objects in the hierarchy
  • or highlight and jump to subfolders, prefabs, and other assets in the Asset folder

with a single click or assigned shortcut.


You can also use your camera bookmarks in game view using a game view menu or the shortcuts to jump to your saved positions.

Use them to drop your player controller on the spot or track other moving objects.


Other features like getting distances to objects or between them and use labels to identify distant bookmarked objects is also available.


Usually you want to set bookmarks for the active scene but you can also set general bookmarks always available for all scenes in the project, for example prefab folders.

Use groups, sorting and set button columns to order them and tags for easy filtering.

Quick Load Script by Nice Script Editor

A tool to save time waiting for script reloads !


Is it possible to reduce the wait time for script reload? The answer is yes!

My solution was to use C# reflection to achieve this.


Why use C# reflection ?


1. Flexibility

From a single dll to an entire project,

take advantage of reflection to reduce wait time


2. Controllability

In fact, you are using reflection,

so you know where to use it and control it


3. More features (the most important reason)

In the dll you want to reflect, you can do anything,

add or delete classes, members, functions, etc.,

all can be achieved in reflection


Disadvantages of using reflection


1. Some adjustments to the code are required to support reflection,

Some extra code needs to be added(very little actually)


2. If reflection is used incorrectly, it can easily lead to additional errors.

Requires some additional time to implement and debug


3. It increases memory overhead, especially when reflecting large dlls,

or when loading large files in reflectoin, In fact, a large dll can be broken

into smaller dlls and then use reflection on the smaller dlls.


Summary

To be honest, reflection isn't perfect and may not be user-friendly

for first-time users.

When I started using it, I also encountered some running

errors caused by reflection.

Then I started with the simplest and made sure it worked,

and now it has become one of my important time-saving tools.


this tool is great for just starting a project or writing some test code, or writing

some auxiliary tools, If the project is nearing its end, it depends on your time


Give it a try and when you get familiar with it,

it might just become your most effective time-saving tool!


Suggestion

Start with the simplest code, figure out how it works, make sure it works properly.


It is not recommended to use reflection for the entire project.

Complexity and errors increase unnecessarily. Usually you only need

to use reflection for a few DLLs that change frequently to save time.

Most dlls probably don't change very often, so keeping them simple is

easier to control and more efficient.

The package contains functionality that falls under three categories: editor, runtime, and samples. The following sections explain each category.


Editor


Everything within the editor directory contains functionality that helps developers at edit time. Examples are custom inspectors, shader GUIs, property drawers, or even shaders that only render in the Unity Editor.


Runtime

The runtime directory contains most of the package's functionality and includes all code and content that can be compiled into a player build. This directory is broken into coarse feature areas and asset folders for commonly used shaders, textures, and models.


Samples
