Toon Humanoid Series Introduction:


Toon Humanoid Series 3D characters possess a charmingly blocky, low-poly design, making them both adorable and user-friendly. These characters are fully compatible with Unity game engine's Mecanim system, allowing seamless integration of humanoid animations from sources such as Mixamo, Unity Asset Store, or your custom animations. To gain a better understanding of sharing humanoid animations using the Mecanim system in Unity, refer to additional resources for more information.


This package is delivered using "Built in' render pipeline in Unity. The materials can be URP and HDRP using the built-in update Feature, as they all use the Standard Shader. If the assets appear purple in the scene, that's because the assets are imported from another pipeline. You can upgrade the shader easily (only a few clicks!) by following this tutorial.

Included in this package is a single character: the Fish Merman. Spear is datachable. The texture dimensions are 2048 x 2048 (adjusted to 512 in Unity), and the file format is PSD. It comprises 1 diffuse texture map, and the material utilizes Unity's Standard shader. The character is low-poly with a polygon count of 1135 triangles, and it comes rigged and animated. The package features 27 animations, and the character is set up with a humanoid Mecanim rig in Unity.


If you're utilizing the Unity game engine, you have the option to incorporate humanoid animations created by yourself, animations obtained from the Unity Asset Store, and/or free animations from Mixamo for this character. It's important to be aware that certain animations from platforms like Mixamo may appear distinct on this character due to variations in body proportions compared to their provided examples. Therefore, it's advisable to make any necessary adjustments to the animations directly on the Mixamo site.

This simple to use package allows you to easily configure build scenes and play mode scenes, find scenes in your project, or load scenes additively: all from a single inspector window or single call at runtime!


The package includes two main parts: the scene manager editor window and the scene controller gameobject componant:


Scene Manager:


Dock and use the scene manager just like any other window in your editor. With a single click, you can open your scenes or add/remove scenes in the Build Settings. Through the scene manager you can select specific scene(s) to load when you hit play, or load the currently open scenes. Additonally, you can create and manage scene groups that allow you to additively load multiple scenes with a single call at runtime.


Scene Controller:


Through the scene controller, you can load all scenes in a scene group from a single call. Wise Timing Coroutines by DevLocker

Custom coroutines that you can control and update yourself with your own deltaTime. Can have multiple timings ticking with different speeds. Compatible with Unity coroutines.

What is this for?

Unity coroutines and Time.deltaTime are the main ways to simulate time in the engine. But they are tied to the Unity life-cycle and frame updates and you have no control over it:

  • Time.deltaTime is updated once every frame by the system. You can't feed your own deltaTime values.
  • Coroutines are tied to the MonoBehaviour life-cycle - if disabled, coroutines are stopped.
  • Coroutines are executed after Update() and before LateUpdate(). The order of their execution is undefined, but it is tied to the MonoBehaviour Update() order (i.e. based on Script Execution Order). This order can often be misleading as it depends on whether the behaviour was created or enabled this frame, where in the hierarchy the object is, etc.
  • Can't have multiple time simulations with different deltaTimes (different time speeds).
  • Can't manually tick the coroutines when you want.
  • Can't iterate or inspect coroutines - there is no API available to do this.

Example usage: imagine that your game has simple logic that doesn't rely on physics (FixedUpdate()). If you want to have a replay functionality, you can just record the input and deltaTime each frame - this will be enough information to reproduce the recorded playthrough. If your code uses Unity coroutines with Time.deltaTime, playback implementation would be impossible as you can't feed Unity your recorded deltaTime.

This is where Wise Timing comes in. Instead of using Unity coroutines and Time.deltaTime, you can use WiseTiming instance. This gives you control over the deltaTime value used by the user code and order of execution. You can also have multiple instances for parallel simulation with different speeds (i.e. each character can have different time speed, slowing down some of them).


Usage

Use WiseTiming the same way you use Unity coroutines, just add in the timing instance and source + use WiseTiming.DeltaTime. For example usage check the code in the screenshot or the github page.


When starting a coroutine, a source must be passed. If source is MonoBehaviour, you can specify if you want the coroutines to stop if the source becomes inactive. If source is destroyed the coroutine is stopped. Source is also used for tracking and debugging.


In order for the coroutines to run, you'll need to call WiseTiming update regularly. Example:

Most used Unity yield instructions are supported: WaitForSeconds, WaitForEndOfFrame, CustomYieldInstruction, UnityWebRequest, AsyncOperation, Task etc. For up-to-date list of supported yield instructions, check the code. WaitForFixedUpdate is not supported because it doesn't make sense.

BNuget has the following core features,


1. Browse Nuget packages from inside Unity.

There are a few large limitations of BNuget,

1. It will only install Nuget packages that support NetStandard.

2. Local File System package sources are not currently supported.

3. Symbol packages are not supported.

4. It is optimized for importing .dll files from Nuget packages, but you need to write custom extension logic to import other files from Nuget packages.

BNuget is a tool that can install Nuget packages into your project, using Assembly Definitions! You can configure custom or private Nuget package sources.
