You have a lot of 2D characters and want to reuse your animations with their own spritesheets? Instead of manually updating your animations, sprite by sprite, let Sprite Animation Swapper handle this task for you, fast!
Sprite Animation Swapper can automatically find matching sprites in a spritesheet, either by name or index of the individual sprite that's used in your animations. If you use the same spritesheet layout for your characters, this'll be a one-click update for all animations of a character.
You can either update your existing animations, or create a new copy of the animation (including new animator override controller and prefab using those animations).
Changing Sprites
Drag and drop the assets you want to use into the editor and hit the Auto Replace button - that's all. But no worries, changes are only made if you save them. The editor will list all animations with their keyframes and the changes that'll be made. You can also manually adjust the used sprites or use a specific spritesheet for an animation's auto replacement.
The project tab's context menu can be used to quickly open/add assets in the editor or auto replace sprites in one go - you only need to save the changes.
If your animations came from a prefab, the prefab's sprite renderers can also be updated with new sprites.
Changing the Binding
You've changed the setup of your prefab or want to reuse an animation on a prefab where the Sprite Renderer is on a different child object?
Sprite Animation Swapper allows you to change the binding of a sprite animation. If the animation was added using a prefab, all available Sprite Renderers of the prefab are available in a popup field. Otherwise, not coming from a prefab, you can freely define the path to the Sprite Renderer in a text field.
Saving
Once you're fine with your changes, you can either save it directly on the existing assets, or create new copies for the changed versions. Saving as copies will automatically create a new prefab, animator override controller and animations for you, ready to go.
Please Note
Sprite Animation Swapper is only for editing or copying existing animations in the editor. Changing sprites in animations at runtime is not supported. Also, sprite animations are only supported by Mecanim animations.
This is an editor extension and doesn't contain any sprite assets.

Files Detailed Description
- 4 Unique Textures per Character: Each animation comes with a sprite sheet (makes the total of 120 sprite sheets included in the asset), so you don't have to use the Spine plugin to use the asset. Spine source files are also included if you wish to modify the characters in the original software.
- Texture Size: Sprite sheets are available in 2048x2048 or 2048x1024 sizes to preserve quality, but they can easily be downsized within Unity to reduce file size.
- Spine Files: Spine files don't require Spine Software to work; only the Spine-Unity V4.2 Package is needed, which is easily installed from this link. You can read the Spine License here.

❓ What are (VFX) Events?
Think of the Barrier effect, for example. It has these events/effects: create, loop, hit, end and stop. In this case, you start with the 'create' event, which then automatically continues with the 'loop' event. Each time the Barrier is damaged you send the ‘hit’ event that displays the corresponding effect. When the barrier expires, send an ‘end’ event that plays the final effect and stops the ‘loop’.
✔️ Let's have a look at the details:
- Important properties are exposed so you can change color, spawn rate, pattern texture etc. directly in the Inspector.
- Uses HDR colors - in combination with Bloom (Post Processing Effect), you have full control over the glow amount.
- Where appropriate, world-space is used so moving objects or characters leave trails and particles behind.
- Has optimized meshes to reduce overdraw.
- Utilizes custom uber effect shader made in Shader Graph for most VFX. Also uses custom shaders for Shields and Dissolve/Materialize.
- Character VFX particles spawn directly on animated skinned mesh using a new feature in the Visual Effect Graph. Connecting your mesh is easily done in the Inspector.
- 1k textures with few exceptions used for tiny elements like sparks, embers etc.
⚙️ Requirements
Requires Unity 2021.3 or newer with Visual Effect Graph and Shader Graph. Install those via Package Manager before installing this Pack. If you just installed them, restart the editor before installing the VFX pack.
Works in URP. Visual Effect Graph has limited compatibility with mobile devices (including WebGL platform).
If the VFX doesn't show up, it needs to be recompiled. This can be easily fixed by opening the VFX assets in UNI VFX\-Pack name-\Visual Effects. When opened in the Visual Effects Graph, the assets are forced to recompile. This should be fixed in Unity 2022.3.6 and newer.
I tried to make everything self-explanatory but some of the effects are bit more complex. If something isn't clear, the Manual in the UNI VFX folder should quickly bring you up to speed, or you can contact me directly.
