The Unity Game Start Activity Examples Asset is a simple asset that can be imported into a new empty game to demonstrate the starting up of Android activities from within a Unity game, optionally passing back return codes and/or messages.
After importing the asset into a new empty game, an Android plugin called Start Activity Examples for Unity games plugin will need to be placed into the Plugin/Android/lib folder. A prebuild runtime version of the Start Activity Examples for Unity games plugin is included with this Asset. If however, you wish to see the source code in the Android plugin, in order to amend or develop it further, you will also need to download and run the Start Activity Examples for Unity Games App. from Google Play, at a small extra charge.
The source code for the Unity Game Asset and the Android plugin has been developed over a considerable period of time to iron out obstacles and wrinkles in order to get these examples up and working properly. The plugin has been developed using Android Studio 3.1.3, min Sdk API 17; Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean), Target Sdk API 28 and Unity 2017.f3.
Considerable efforts have been made to assemble and test out this full demo. Some useful nuggets of information have been obtained over recent months from various blogs on the Internet, but it has to be said that much of it was found to be wrong or way out of date, and so unfortunately much of the development for this app has had to be worked out on a time-consuming trial and error basis.
We trust you will find the demonstration game and source code helpful to enable you to easily enhance your own games to interface with all sorts of Android apps on your mobile device.
