Sunfall Global Illumination is a Screen Space Global Illumination solution for Unity that aims to fine/high frequency detail to your scene’s lighting while working together with large scale GI solutions such as Unity PLM or Enlighten GI.
What Sunfall Global Illumination can do:
- Fast GI approximation computed in screen space (~1ms per frame @ 1080p with optimized settings)
- Support for Built-In Pipeline deferred render path, with support for other SRPs (URP, HDRP) coming in the future.
- Can be stacked with baked lighting to allow dynamic objects to interact with baked lighting.
- Supports light approximation outside camera view, with little performance overhead.
What Sunfall Global Illumination can NOT (currently) do:
- Can’t run on forward rendering as it’s developed around the deferred gbuffers, but forward render support is planned.
- It’s based on screen space path tracing. This means that SSGI can’t take into account detail that is not visible on the screen
- Can’t run on mobile platforms due to effect complexity
- Can't run on VR but support is planned.

FAQ
Can this shader be pushed beyond just Synthwave-ish styles?
- Yes! It lends itself extremely well to a lot of different types of artstyles. Here's an example of me pushing it in a more stylized setting during the GMTK2021 Game Jam.
Can it be used in HDRP?
- Due to the differences in how Skyboxes get rendered it will not work in the same way it works for URP.
Are there any plans for the shader GUI?
- Yes, once Shader Graph offers official support to edit the shader GUI I'll update it to include proper titles, foldouts and tooltips.
Will the asset pack receive any updates?
- Yes! I plan on continously adding more features, cubemaps and textures based on feedback. Let me know if there's anything you want to see! Once I've stopped updating the asset pack I will edit this FAQ.
Isn't the Sun in your shader just a 3D plane in the sky?
- It is not! It actually is projected into the sky sphere, there's no additional 3D geometry involved - and there's no way to get close to the sun.

Sculptures & Monuments by DC Assets
A set of materials and meshes to decorate art galleries, homes and businesses.
These are built with a wide variety of platforms in mind. They can be used with or without the height map, AO, etc. and work well at just about every resolution.
The pack comes with a customizeable HDRP shader for each sculpture and a standard pipeline material for each tiling material set. Those can also be converted to any pipeline. All materials have a color, metal/rough, height, ambient occlusion and normal map.
The textures can be adjusted to be between 32 and 4096 max resolutions.
Included in this pack are the following:
